Progress Review Meeting of the Sabaragamuwa Province – 2011

The progress review meeting of the Sabaragamuwa Province for 2011 was held at the office of the Chief Secretary on 22nd November 2011. This meeting was attended by the Secretary and the relevant officers of the Finance Commission, Deputy Chief Secretary (Planning), Provincial Secretaries and other relevant provincial officers. At this meeting, sector based financial and physical performance at ministerial level, the issues relating to project implementation at the provincial level and the possible remedial actions have been discussed in detail. Further, special attention has been given to the issues pertaining to recruitment of provincial cadre. At the meeting, it was pointed out that the provincial authorities should have pre arrangements in resolving the issues since the beginning of implementation of projects. They also need to pay attention on possible issues and problems that can be arisen during every stage of the project cycle. Further, all officers arrived at a common decision on minimizing the under utilization of PSDG funds and approving only requests relating to recruitment of essential cadre positions. All were of the view that although there was a physical progress at higher level in statistics, it was necessary to conform it by observing the real situation at field level.
