A team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Fiscal Affairs Department led by Ms. Laura Doherty visited the Finance Commission on 17th of March 2023 for a meeting to discuss especially on the role and methodologies adopted by the Finance Commission in determination of allocations for Provinces from the National Budget and applicability of the new Public Finance Management Act and Fiscal Rule Framework. In addition, highlights of the policy recommendations submitted to Hon. President by the Commission in order to enhance the efficiency of resource utilization and Financial Management systems were also discussed. The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Sumith Abeysinghe, Secretary to the Finance Commission Mr. A.T.M.U.D.B. Tennakoon and other senior officials of the Commission participated in the discussion.
